Waterblommetjies

June 15, 2011 in Uncategorized

I live in durban and it is extremely difficult to find waterblommetjies. Sorry don’t know what it is called in english. I really need help with where I could find some and if anyone has a nice tried and tested waterblommetjie potjie recipe for me. Bunch of us are having a potjie competition and ’cause we won last year I really need to pull out all the stops this year.

Tried woolworths, and food lovers market in fact food lovers gave me the florist number. Nearly killed myself laughing had to put the phone down.

This is what it looks like. It’s awesome.

Thank You in advance

  1. Hi there – have you tried the tinned ones? That may be the closest you get in our part of the world!

  2. didn’t know you can get them tinned. Would prefer fresh but think if i can’t get any will have to do tinned. Do you know which store will keep them?

  3. I don’t think you will be able to find fresh waterblommetjies in Durban, so I think Zabwan’s suggestion will most probably the best! I have posted my waterblommetjie soup before! Maybe you can use it for some inspiration: http://blogs.food24.com/pinkpolkadot/waterblommetjies

    Good luck!

  4. try the tinned ones from Pick N Pay! You can only get them fresh where they are grown – in water in the Overberg region as far as I know. Welcome to blogland :)
