Belly Worshipper

Hey everybody,

I don’t know if anybody remembers me but I am now back after fighting a critical illness, one which I wouldn’t let take over me.

I have been baking to ease all stress and for the fun of it and wanted to share my last cake which i made for my niece for here 5th birthday. Let me know what you think;

She wanted a Dora the explorer Volcano Cake.

I love this marinade it is my Grandmothers recipe and i sort have put my own little twist. You can use it just before or leave it over night, either way it is delicious.

For about 500g of meat or chicken:

1/2 Cup of White Wine – Graca
1/2 Cup of OBS (Old Brown Sherry)
10 Bay Leaves
1 tbs of garlic
1/2 teaspoon of peri peri spice
juice of 2 Lemons
Dash of all spice
2 rosemary twigs
I like to put 2 TBS chutney as well

Mix well and add to chicken or beef. I like to do this the night before. Braai or Fry!

I’m having a dinner party tonight and have had a request for Chicken ala King. Anybody out there have any nice recipes for that. i have my own but it is boring. and any dessert ideas?

Don’t let the name of this recipe put you off it is absolutely delicious.
 
This is my very favourite recipe especially in winter, it is sweet and sour and i love the way the chicken falls off the bone.

Recipe for Coke Chicken

• 600g chicken on the bone
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp blackpepper
• 1 whole onion chopped
• 1 tablespoon garlic
• 4 bay leaves
• 1/2 teaspoon Pimento AllSpice (my secret Ingredient)
• 4 Cloves
• 5 Tablespoons of Chutney (Mrs Balls of course)
• Coke

1) Preheat oven 200C. Fry onions, bay leaves and cloves, add chicken just to brown. Season with salt, pepper and Pimento All spice
2) Add fried ingredients to a casserol dish, add Chutney and mix.
3) Fill casserole dish with coke just until it covers the Chicken.
4) Bake in oven for about an hour or until nice and sticky

Serve with new Mcains Spanish ric which you can find in the frozen foods section and roast veggies.

Very nice for winter or as an add at a braai!!!

Does anyone have any rich chocolate brownie recipes to share? Please! I’m doing a kiddies party on Saturday and nothing like a good sugar rush! If you could please give me some moist chewy brownies that would be the best. I made some last night and they were delicious but not sticky enough and did try to change the recipe with different sugars etc… but couldn’t get it right!

No seriously…. I went to Arniston a few weeks ago and between Arniston and Bredasdorp there is this little quaint Portuguese bed and breakfast/ Restuarant. I think it’s called Casa Portuguesa or Casa Linda or something like that but the best food you will ever tast in your life. The house itself looks like a house from Portugal and the decor is really authentic. You can bring your own booze as well which was a bonus and no corkage. For starters i had the calamari and they melted in mouth, the sauce was like heaven. My friend had the liver and i don’t like livers but GOSH they were to die for!

We then proceeded to the mains and i had the Trinchado and my friend had the crab curry. I tell you that the meat cubes were like butter and i think i licked that plate clean. The sauce was amazing!!! The crab curry was fantastic and my friend could not believe how tasty it was.

We were to full for desert but the desert menu was delicious. We stayed and had a few drinks with the Owner Linda who is from Mozambique and she is quite a character and if you wanted to know about anything about Mozambique she is the one to ask. I really special evening and i loved every minute and all the people around all looked very pleased with their meals.
