How to block SPAM in your food24 blog

February 15, 2012 in Food24Ed posts

Hi bloggers,

I have put together a simple wiki for how to activate your Akismet spam filter on your blog.
NB: You do not pay for anything!
Please follow my easy instructions with screen shots to help you on your way. It takes a few minutes and you will be on your way to spam free blogging.

Note: Please bear in mind that some spam does get through. Spam blockers block computers that are trawling the net, but if there are humans doing the spamming, it’s just a matter of deleting it. We have also installed an awesome spam blocker in our backend called Wanguard and it is doing some great work as we sleep :-) .

Spam-free kisses,

Caro and the food24 team.

Liqui-Fruit adds some fizzzzzz

February 7, 2012 in Food24Ed posts

Hi bloggers,

Have you seen the new fizzy Liqui-Fruit babies? Look look…

How cute? And delicious too, not too sweet and a nice kind of fizzy – not up-your-nose bubbles and not too flat. I prefer them fizzy actually, I couldn’t quite get my mind around drinking flat juice out of a can – it never seemed right.

They come in those 275ml slim cans and have 4 delish flavours: Litchi & Pine; Cranberry & Apple; Passion & Pear and Strawberry & Orange. My fave was the Cranberry & Apple.

There’s no added sugar or preservatives,12 month shelf life and available in all convenience stores countrywide.

Try one out and let me know what you think?

Maille has 2 new mustard flavours

January 24, 2012 in Food24Ed posts

Hello foodies,

Ever heard of Maille mustard? It’s really good stuff and you can find it on pretty much any supermarket shelf in the country.
Their Dijon and wholegrain is a staple in my house and I think the range is tops.
Fantastic gastronomic news! They’ve released 2 more great flavours – Horseradish and Xtra hot.

The Horseradish is really 1st class. Run it through some simple mashed potatoes or dollop it onto the top of some grilled trout or salmon – delicious. I also tried it as a condiment for some gourmet boerie, hot off the braai – droolworthy.

The XX-Hot is tasty but not XX-Hot in my book. It’s more like a toned down version of Hot English Mustard without the sting.

What do you think of Maille mustards?

Olive Pride Extra Virgin Olive Oil

December 20, 2011 in Food24Ed posts

Hi y’all,

I went to the launch of this a little while back and thought I should tell you all about it.

- it’s local!

- it’s really lovely

- it’s seriously well priced

Halloooo, time to go out and get some.

Here’s the PR spiel:

‘A premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced in the breathtaking valley of Porterville in the Western Cape has been launched in South Africa.

Made from a blend of frantoio, leccino, coratina and mission olives, the brand new Olive Pride Extra Virgin Olive Oil will be available from retailers countrywide to cater to the needs of food lovers at an affordable price.’

Ok get this it’s going for between R49.99 and R54.99 for 500ml at Checkers which is pretty much the best price of Olive Oil around.

Cool hey?

Love and loads of Christmas carols,

Caro xxx
