Sun City Breakfast Run
September 13, 2010 in Uncategorized
On Sunday morning, I woke up before the crack of dawn, fell onto the back of hubby’s bike and took the long way round to Sun City. For Breakfast.
Breakfast was a buffet style ordeal, which suits the ordinary person just fine. Someone who needs to avoid what have become staples in our diets? Not so much.
Earlier this week, Sun City was informed of my dietary requirements. I sent them an email explaining what was what. The email was forwarded to the chef. On arrival, the chef came to speak to me personally. He had not wanted to prepare any food before consulting with me.
My breakfast started with a sliced fruit platter. Strawberry, Pineapple, Oranges, Grapefruit, Kiwi’s, Melon, Spanspek. YUM! And then there was the second course! The chef prepared steak for me, with red and green peppers and onion relish. Baby potatoes with more relish. Eggs. All fried in olive oil. The rest of the breakfast table looked over at my plates and declared things such as, “I have food problems too!” This coming from people who had ribs for breakfast. Yes, a Sun City Buffet breakfast includes ribs!
This is a shout out to Sun City and the chef of Cabanas. Thanks for making my Sunday breakfast one to remember.
