Pure protein balls - Chicken meatballs

You’ve got to try these little babies!

I make a batch every Sunday and consume them during the week as my protein snack in between meals. Sometimes I have them for lunch with a cup of steamed corn for a delicious healthy lunch.

They are the perfect on the run snack and great for the kid’s lunch boxes too!

Banana muffin with Peanut Butter surprise

Banana muffin with peanut butter surprise

Who can remember the peanut butter scene in  Meet Joe black?

In our house I don’t buy any cookies, chocolates or chips, because I will develop a craving just because I know it’s in the cupboard.

Taking away all temptation certainly helps the hips, but sometimes I develop a genuine craving and that’s when I grab a teaspoon and the peanut butter jar. And then I eat it Joe Black style, slowly, savoring every lick of that spoon.

I have this lovely healthy low GI recipe for Banana bread that I most often use to make muffins. The peanut butter inside is a lovely surprise but you could bake it without the peanut butter if you choose to.

Healthy Apple and Grape Crisp (NOT a Crumble!)

January 22, 2012 in Uncategorized

Apple and grape crumble

Very interesting indeed, there is in fact a difference between a crumble and a crisp!

A crisp is a dessert made with a crisp topping that contains oats, nuts, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon  and flour sprinkled over the fruit.  A crisp have a coarser texture compared to the crumble because of the nuts and oats used.

A crumble is made with flour, butter, sugar that is sprinkled over the fruit, basically the same ingredients as a pastry except for the liquid.

Either way both taste fantastic and you don’t have to stick to just apples to make this dessert.

I’ve used grapes with the apples, this created two kinds of sweetness in one pie, just lovely.
