all in one breakfast smoothies

These fruit smoothies are the perfect solution if you are looking for a breakfast on the go.
As part of my series of recipes which Kellogg’s asked me to develop using their limited edition and new Special K Oats & Honey variant, I thought a smoothie was a fabulous option. I frequently make them and find they are an easy way to get protein and fruit into your diet in a very delicious way. In these recipes I have used fat-free yoghurt and milk in order to make this even more super healthy, but you could substitute with your favourite low-fat variety. By adding the cereal to the mix, you get a more substantial smoothie that will serve as a meal replacement.
Using frozen fruit gives the smoothie a lovely frozen feel and thicker texture. I often freeze my fruit specifically for smoothies, even banana’s.
This is a good tip if you have a lot of fruit left over.

Banana smoothie:
- 1 banana (about 1/2 a cup mashed)
- 1/2 cup yoghurt
- 1/4 cup Special K Oats & Honey cereal
- 3/4 cup skim milk
Berry smoothie:
- 1/2 a cup of strawberries and / or raspberries of both (frozen of fresh)
- 1/2 cup yoghurt
- 1/4 cup Special K Oats & Honey cereal
- 3/4 cup skim milk
Blueberry smoothie:
- 1/2 a cup blueberries (frozen of fresh)
- 1/2 cup yoghurt
- 1/4 cup Special K Oats & Honey cereal
- 3/4 cup skim milk
Place all the ingredients for a particular smoothie into a food processor and blend until smooth. I use an immersion hand-held stick blender in a tall container and this works very well too. Add a tablespoon of honey if you desire a bit more sweetness.
