cooksister’s sage, feta and peppadew scones
March 15, 2011 in Uncategorized
On Sunday afternoon I bought a sage plant at the Milnerton flea market. The lady at the fleamarket told me it is great with pork and chicken; however with my limited knowledge of the herb and its uses , I decided to start reading up on it using my trusted friend Google.
Whilst browsing the web I found this peppadew, sage and feta scones recipe on cooksister website. I realized I have all the ingredients in the cupboard and made it instantly. I used the exact same recipe but used 1 cup of selfraising flour and a cup of cake flour and reduced the baking powder by one teaspoon. I also baked it in a muffin pan instead of making balls with my hands. It resulted in 11 scones.
It was such a hit that my husband ate about 6 scones that night. It goes great with cheese and without. I had 3 for lunch the next day and it was still great cold and warmed up to melt some cheese on it. Something that I will definitely make again.
