Bread and butter pudding

| Tandy is currently running a challenge on her blog, to make something sweet that you have never made before. Browsing through my recipe books I realized I never made bread and butter pudding and I had some old bread (2 day old; not mouldy!! ) and all of the other ingredients in the kitchen. I got the recipe from Bon Appetite Mr. President, a book by Hilton Little.

| It is a fairly simple recipe. You pack the bread in a pan, sprinkle sugar and currents over and then pour over some milk mixture.

I was a bit skeptical about the sugar not being mixed into the milk mixture then poured over but it must have melted into the bread and milk pudding. The recipe also states the milk mixture will soak into the bread, but it didn’t soak in completely and I just baked it without all of the milk soaked into the bread. |

I served it with custard. My husband who does not have a sweet tooth, said this is the best pudding I ever made
. The next time I have guests over I would make it in these mini casseroles from Le Creuset.
