How not to make cake pops

October 10, 2012 in Uncategorized

When I saw Yuppiechef issue a challenge on cake pops I thought this is a great way for me to re-enter the world of blogging and revive my blog. Since the theme was spring, I made tiny flowers and dyed coconut green. The idea was to create green grass cake pops with tiny flowers all over.

So a cake was baked, crumbs were made ,

crumbs

buttercream was added buttercream

and balls were rolled rolled balls.
Then I stuck the sticks into the cake balls and placed them in the fridge. In the mean time I melted my chocolate, ready for dipping the cake pops.

This is easy I thought, until I started dipping those balls into the chocolate. I have no words for what happened next…Each and every one of these balls either cracked on the stick or slid off the stick. Of about 24 balls only two remained standing.

I will definitely make them again, just not anytime soon. My bruised ego needs healing.

  1. Oh you poor thing. I have been there. My cheesecake pops (I never blogged about them because it was a little embarrassing) did something similar. I froze them and when I dipped them in chocolate the hard outer layer fell off. It was still yummy but not very pretty. Give it another bash and I’m sure you’ll have better luck :)

  2. Some of mine did the same – I think they were too soft! But what a great idea you had. And I love the piece of polystyrene – I could have saved myself R18 had I applied some thought :)
