Touch of Gold

This is my second week  back at work. Last week  was not as bad as I dreaded it would be. I do  not do new years resolutions but will try to lose weight this year. Mainly for economic reasons because I cannot and refuse to buy new clothes when I have almost new clothes in my closet that I hardly wore that is too small.

The holidays were great just tiring. Christmas at home In PE WAS nice. I really relaxed. Then my parents came with to Cape Town and then I was hosting and had to make sure food were prepared. Had to organize trips and trust me ensuring 9 adults and 2 kids are at a certain place at a certain time is hard work. Teenage boys stay longer in the bathroom then girls and that was eye-opeing to me.

Last week I made a possible career killing move by declining an acting position. Don’t know how it will effect me applying for a higher position in the future. I had my reasons and although they might not be great ones and I live and learn.

Today my niece is going to school for the first time . I wish I was there to see her, but her parents promised to send pics cant wait to see it.

Since I do not have a proper working oven I thought that this year I will not be able to decorate some fruitcakes for Christmas. Luckily Browniegirl came to my rescue and baked 6 cakes for me.

I ran out of time and did 2 more, the same as the first one and then did this one last night quickly.

 The last one is for husband and me and I will decorate it in the new year.

I am receiving guests tonight and still have to be packing. We are leaving tomorrow to visit my parents in PE.

Shoo I have not been here in too long. Life has been busy.  Especially at work and with summer I have been more in the garden than on the computer. So here is evidence of where I have been.

I am currently on holiday in Pretoria. Arrived on Friday evening and visited with friends. It was delightful. Monday I went out with my best friend, just having a girly day out. We lazed around sandton looking at beautiful furniture and had pizza for lunch. After that we ended up at monte casino we had lots of fun and lady luck smiled on us. We won about R1000 each.

Yesterday was  a letdown, I was alone and so depressed. I tried going shopping but returned back to the hotel within an hour. It felt weird walking around alone. I then went to a meeting for work for 2 hours…That was the highlight of my day….. and I hated the fact that I came. I missed my house, my garden and my husband. He is here too but we only see each other late in the evening. He attends training and then have business meetings. Not how I imagined my holiday will be. So last night I told him and we went out with two of his colleagues. We ended up at newscafe in Hatfield. That place still rocks. The waiters are attentive yet not overbearing. They allow you to be and I appreciated that. That is the only thing I miss about Gauteng, the good customer service and the vibe the people have here.

We were suppose to go home on Saturday but my husband’s training ends today. I had to change my flight and paid an extra R900 for the new flight. We are flying out tomorrow afternoon. I just cannot wait.

I am in the market for a new phone. I have an 2G Iphone, which I love for the browsing capability but its phone and video camera sucks big time. You also have to update it constantly to stay up to date with new apps. I am not into all of that so currently my cydia updates is at 50 and I couldn’t care less.

My hubs has a blackberry bold and I like it because its faster than my iphone but opening only one browser at a time wastes my time. I like doing my facebook updates with his phone but that’s where my love for this phone stops.

Today I saw the NokiaN8, it has a 12mp camera, 16G(a bit small for me) harddrive and a HD enabled video camera. Need to go see its browsing capability and then this might be the one!

On Monday morning around 4am I was awoken by the sound of footsteps running. I call out to hubby, he goes “keep quiet Im hearing them already”. Seemingly 3 burglars tried to break into a house in our complex and what we heard was them running away after some residents tried to catch them. Now hubby is in serious security mode, he is busy researching what is the best burglar doors because our existing ones are not good. He is also going to install cameras outside so we can see what is going on outside without having to go out. Eish all I can hear is my bank balance emptying but I guess it is better to be broke than broken in.

Both my parents are great communicators. Although I have a masters degree, I am yet to trump my dad with words. Im a shrinking violet when it comes to public speaking. Both my parents are quite eloquent when it comes to speaking in public. I shy away from disagreeing with someone even if I know in my heart of hearts they are wrong. trying to get my point across fails often because I am misunderstood. I doubt any of my parents have this difficulty

I  look like my dad and have my mom’s personality. I know I am my parent’s child but sitting in a meeting, being misunderstood, sometimes I wonder.
