LONDON AND SOME FOOD EXPERIENCE

August 8, 2011 in Uncategorized

During this visit to London I am living almost like a local – with my gym membership, my local library membership and most importantly my oyster card – which allows me to travel in any direction locally by tube or bus. For the very first time I am travelling without hubby (who due to work commitments was not able to join me – much to his disappointment) – felt a bit weird initially but people are friendly and helpful and it is really great to be able to see and spend time with my children. As I have already done and seen most of the touristy attractions on my previous visits, I am now able to experience London without having to rush around at a frantic pace trying to see and do as much as possible in a limited amount of time.

I am currently enjoying browsing through the supermarkets – lol – and am amazed by the variety of fresh vegetable and fruit that are currently seasonal. I could not resist buying this cabbage called Sweetheart cabbage – it is also known as pointed, hispi or hearted. It is recommended to be eaten raw as it has a softer and sweeter texture than the normal cabbage. I made a crunchy cabbage salad from a recipe posted by blogger, Inspiration.

Fego’s in St Johns Wood for breakfast – egg benedict

St Johns Wood Church Grounds which attracts thousands of visitors all year round and has been over the years consistent in winning many awards organized by the London Garden Square society.

It also has a Woodland area for little creatures like squirrels – too cute.

Dinner at Richoux in St Johns Wood – it’s close to Abbey Road – where the Beatles had their recording studio and it is said that Paul McCartney still frequents this restaurant.

Chicken salad

Richoux famous fish pie with smoked haddock, salmon and prawns.

Happy women’s day everyone.
