Bovril Black Tie Dinner
November 3, 2011 in Uncategorized
Open-air dining, amazing food, incredible wine, being serenaded by seductive French songbird, fire spitting entertainment, ummmm sharing a dining table with the Western Cape Premier….these are just a few of the things experienced at this year’s Bovril Black Tie Dinner.
On Thursday, 27 October 2011, over two hundred guests geared up in their evening wear, tuxedos and made their way towards Paarl’s main street. On arrival, a group of kids playing Marimba serenaded the guests as they were welcomed with a glass of bubbly. To keep up with the Moulin Rouge theme, a table long enough to sit all the guests was decorated with white-feathers, black hats and my favourite, a leg with fishnet stocking emerging from a bunch of white feathers.
The taste bud tantalising three course menu consisted of the following:
Starter
Manna bowl filled with tossed fresh line fish, calamari, prawns and mussels in a citrus herb dressing, drizzled with moskonfyt.
Served with 2008 Longridge Chardonnay
