Pasta for health nuts and other weird people
August 15, 2010 in Pasta
Apparently there is a big difference between people watching weight also known as weight watchers and people that weigh less than who knows who, also known as weightless people, ok maybe not completely weightless but something like that in any case. I’m not sure if I said weigh less when it should have been weight watchers or said weight watchers when I should have said weigh less, but I got it wrong in any case, but the fact of the matter is, I’m forced to cook healthier food than what I’m used to, and I’m also forced to eat that healthier food, but you can eat healthier without skimping on taste, but please don’t tell that to my wife, this healthy eating thing is not really up my ally.
The pasta have to be durum wheat pasta, Woolies sell an organic wholewheat linguini pasta, why wife think that it is the way to go, I think I should say nothing.
For the sauce I used
2 Cans cherry tomatoes (also from Woolies)
4 Anchovies fillets
10 white mushrooms sliced
3 red, 3 green chilies deseeded and chopped
1 onion chopped
2 teaspoons capers
2 teaspoons olive oil.
Fry the onions, anchovies and chilies in the olive oil until soft, add the mushrooms and fry another minute or two, add the tomatoes and capers and cook for at least half an hour. (If the healthy people don’t look, add half a glass of red wine)
Serve on top of the wholewheat pasta, enjoy with red wine, apparently it is very healthy.
