Can you handle the heat?
You can’t always please everybody, and tonight my food definitely did not please my wife, it did please me however, a recipe for sleeping on the couch, chilies are not everyone’s favorite, and sometimes I misjudge how many are to much for my chili hating wife.
This pasta recipe have featured on this blog before in some or another version, but tonight I thought I would leave the seeds of the chili, I was only using two, and last night I used four in the chili con carne, and it was not that hot, but something activated those chilies tonight, it was hot, lekker for me, not so for some other people, I did try to save some face by taking a little of the sauce, add another tin of tomatoes, some mushrooms and basil, more olives and a little red wine, but it was too late, the couch it will be, the misjudging with the chilies was still ok, but don’t try and defend yourself in a situation like this, take your punishment, tomorrow will be better, maybe.
If you like your food hot, this is the recipe.
2 Tbls olive oil
1 onion finely chopped
2 red chilies chopped
3 cloves garlic chopped
2 tins peeled and chopped tomatoes
1 70g tin tomato paste
2 teaspoons capers
5 to 6 fillets anchovy
20 black olives pitted and chopped
½ glass red wine
Fry the chili, garlic, anchovy and onion in the olive oil until the onion are soft. Add the olives, capers, tomatoes, tomato paste and red wine, bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer for anything between half an hour and an hour, the longer you simmer the sauce, the stronger the tomato flavor will be.
Serve on top of your favorite paste and enjoy with a couple of glasses of red wine.
