Prawns on Himalayan Salt Block

February 5, 2013 in Seafood

Himalayan Pink salt slabs, plates, and bricks are harvested from deep within the ancient Himalayan mountain range of Pakistan. There, they have remained protected from pollution and impurities for centuries, making this what many consider the purest, cleanest salt in the world. The salt is mined as large, meteor-like boulders and later sliced into, slabs, blocks, bricks and plates as well as sculpted into bowls. Because Himalayan Pink salt slabs are a natural product, the threshold for high temperatures and pressure may vary, as will the physical characteristics and inclusions which give your salt slab a one-of-a-kind appearance.

These salt blocks are heat resistant, and can be heated in either your oven or gas grill, I heat mine up on the gas grill, 15 minutes at 200°C is more than enough to cook your prawns to perfection, but be careful the block will stay hot for a very long time after you remove it from the heat.

Preparation:

Heat the salt block for 15 to 20 minutes at 200°C

Devein and shell the prawns

Flavor with olive oil, black pepper and lime juice.

To Cook:

This can be done while the salt block is on the grill or at the table for more of a wow affect.

Place the prawn directly on the salt block and cook on both sides until it turn nice and pink, serve immediately, because they are far to good to wait any longer.

Enjoy with your best friends and a glass of wine.

Bon appetite
