Boston Cream Pie

October 29, 2012 in Uncategorized

Boston Cream Pie, cake, tea time treats, tami magnin, dinner divas, made and eaten the same day, easier than you think, takes some advance planning, pastry cream, custard made from scratch, baking, chocolate glaze, sponge cakeA light airy sponge cake filled with pastry cream and coated with chocolate glaze this cake takes some advance planning to ensure all components cool before assembly but it is well worth the extra effort.

Not too long ago I got this idea in my head to make Boston cream pie (I have really no idea where the inclination came from) but once I can’t stop thinking about something, I have to do it. It took me a while to find a decent recipe since many American recipes use cake and pudding mixes but I eventually found this one  and nearly fell off my chair laughing at the intensity of the instructions.

    • thanks Anel. It was World Boston Cream Pie day last week (seems like there is a day for everything thx to the USA) and it convinced me I had to make it. It’s just not something I can make after a day of work during the week but it was worth squeezing into my schedule of 2 parties on Saturday ;) xx
